Visualisation at Scale
At Avataar, 3D and AR experiences were delivered through bespoke service models—highly effective but difficult to scale with increasing demand.
As demand for immersive, customizable product storytelling surged, this approach became unsustainable.
I joined an ambitious initiative to design Experience Creator, a platform that empowers merchants to generate scalable, on-brand 3D videos and visuals in just a few clicks.
2024- 2025
Experience
Creator
Team : 3 Product Managers,1 External Designer, 2 External Researchers, 6 Developers, 5 QA Engineers, 4 CS Team Members
An end-to-end platform for merchants to create immersive 3D videos and product visuals helping users explore, personalize, and experience products more vividly.
My Role : Lead Designer
User research
Dug through platforms, ran interviews, spent hours with our creators listening, observing, and soaking up their stories
Collaboration
Bridged gaps across devs exploring new tech, PMs aligning on features, and US-based designer, navigating time zones and tight deadlines.
Journey Mappings
Went through multiple iterations, countless stakeholder syncs, and messy whiteboard sessions to craft flows that felt simple
Design & Dev Handoff:
Shared designs in modules for parallel developement and stayed hands-on to support assets speeding up go-to-market.
Information Architecture
Created a lean IA that allowed quick development while leaving room for scalability. Prioritised primary user journeys first, leaving non-critical paths for later iterations.
Usability Testing
Collaborated with ops for internal trials, worked with the CS team to gather early feedback from external partners, guided researchers for external usability testing drive.
The Challenge:
From Zero to One in Just 5 Months
Build a self-serve platform that anyone could use, regardless of 3D skill and make it scalable across hundreds of merchants.
High Level Goals
-
Enable 3D content creation with minimal design expertise
-
Ensure the platform works seamlessly at scale
-
Reduce time and effort across the creation workflow
-
Design MVP in just 2 Weeks.

"Lighting and angles make or break a product video, but capturing everything perfectly in limited time is a constant struggle."
After reviewing the footage
Alex: "Great... still not right. Now I have to reshoot half of this. And I’ve got another client waiting..."
He glances at the clock—another night slipping away in endless edits. "At this rate, I’ll never get ahead,"
Client: "Can you add some dynamic 360° shots? And maybe an AR preview?"
Alex: "Of course, I’ll make it work"
knowing that capturing every angle and stitching it together will be a long, exhausting process

Alex: "Alright, one more time. Maybe this angle will finally work." He adjusts the product again, carefully avoiding harsh shadows.

"Converting my entire product catalog into engaging 3D videos and AR experiences is simple, but We don’t have enough resources to make it happen at scale."
Stakeholders: "Emily, we need our catalog in 3D videos and AR, customers expect it. We can't wait months, so find a faster solution. Also, we need a storyboard for the next pitch."

Motion graphic designer: "If we could automate part of the process, we’d create more videos without a huge team."

3d animator: "We’d love to, but scaling high-quality 3D videos and AR assets would take months."
Emily: ""Guys, we need more 3D videos and AR previews, customers expect them, but we have them for only 10% of our catalog."

Atsushi: (staring at 3D software interface) "Okay, I just need to animate this product spin… why is nothing moving?"
Client: " We love your 2D work! This time, we need a 3D product video for our launch. Can you create it?"
Atsushi: "Got it! I'll see to make this work."
Thinking another 3D project to figure out…
Atsushi: (trying to figure out nodes based animations) " What is this node-based materials? Simple animations take forever in it."

The Solution
Introducing Creator

In a world where immersive content is becoming the norm, Creator empowers anyone regardless of skill to produce stunning 3D and video experiences effortlessly. It streamlines complex workflows, making content creation fast, scalable, and beautifully simple.

Adapting Creator for low skilled users
2D motion designer wants to create a 3D product spin quickly without learning complex animation tools
Adding
Animation Block
Designed to simplify 3D animation, the Animation Block let users animate objects in just a few clicks. Simply add a block of your choice to object, no need to learn complex 3D software.
Create and share stunning product videos with clients in under 5 minutes.
Solving for Mass production of custom PDP Content
Emily (Content Manager) wants her team to transform their entire catalog into 3D video fast with resources at hand.
Using Product Video Templates
Designed to simplify visualization at scale, our templates let you swap in any 3D product from your catalog and instantly generate videos, you can also update text and lighting. What once took 18 hours can now be done in minutes, across a single product or entire catalog.
Creating Full-tray content for Product Pages
Product Photographer wants to capture missed angles of his 3D product without redoing the entire studio setup.
Virtual
Photograpy Studio
Easily generate high-quality product shots for your eCommerce website anytime, anywhere. Just import your 3D object, adjust its position and lighting, and capture images from multiple angles. No physical setup, no wait time, get high-resolution outputs in minutes.
Solving for need of resources that can enable non experts to create 3D outputs
Alex (Product Photographer) has captured the missing angles but needs one lifestyle
generation too.
AI Lifestyle
Background Generation
Easily generate high-quality product shots for your eCommerce website anytime, anywhere. Just import your 3D object, adjust its position and lighting, and capture images from multiple angles. No physical setup, no wait time, get high-resolution outputs in minutes.
Removing multi-tool dependency for storytelling
3d Artist wanted to add a painting to his scene, but searching for the right image and uploading it from the web was time-consuming.
Text to Image
Gen AI feature
To simplify asset generation, the Text-to-Image feature let users create and add visuals directly within the canvas, eliminating the need to search or upload manually.
Users can explore different styles, aspect ratios, and easily compare outputs side by side. A built-in history panel also allows them to reuse previously generated assets, speeding up creative decision-making.
Gathering
Feedback & Insights
We conducted weekly hi-fidelity prototype reviews with internal stakeholders to refine usability and interactions.
Dogfooding sessions were organized across teams, including in-house designers and 3D artists, as well as external design partners (ACPs) to gather diverse feedback.
For broader validation, we ran a beta test with selected influencers and launched a Creator Challenge, which helped simulate real-world usage.
25K
Users used Creator
~92%
Reduction in Video Creation time from 180hrs to 1.5 Hrs
96%
Cost reduction from $24–$602 per video to under $10
Some Learnings
Start with a ready scene and let users bring their story to life.
Instead of asking users to build from scratch, give them a head start, like editable templates, helped them plug in their own content reducing friction.
Quick designs lead to faster feedback and better results over time.
If we had waited for Creator to be perfect for 3D artists, we’d have missed key insights from less experienced users. Early launches brought real feedback.
